Our story

Who we are

We are a forward-looking social organization with research and learning woven into our DNA, tracing how people identify alongside demographic trends within the Canadian workplace to move employers from diversity to inclusion.

Our mission is to help those we work with be inclusive, free of prejudice and discrimination – and to generate the awareness, dialogue and action for people to recognize diversity as an asset and not an obstacle.

Our leadership came together from the corporate world with a shared goal of helping employers celebrate diversity and difference with a model that blends social impact and proven business tactics for inclusive work environments that mobilize the potential of individuals – and of teams.

What we do

We focus on the topics of inclusion that are relevant in Canada and the regional differences that shape diversity by addressing the issues that move employers from compliance to engagement. Our research, reports and events have become valuable cornerstones for people developing and implementing diversity plans.

We’re an anomaly among diversity and inclusion professionals in how we tie together traditional business strategy and consulting, innovative research technology and data analysis with social purpose. And as learning is a part of everything we do, it only made sense that when we merged with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and became a charity in May 2015 – that we included high school students in the diversity dialogue to address the needs of youth whose lives are too often plagued by bullying, violence and discrimination.

See Different is a movement we’ve launched in schools for students to empower themselves and embark on a discovery of self and differences to become agents of change. We’re hearing moving stories of transformation when barriers of prejudice and discrimination are broken down.

We’re supporting the school program with a national survey to assess how youth perceive diversity and a campaign for change. This work is a focus of our charitable status as an organization and we’re extremely thankful for the revenue from valued donors and the organizations we work with which allows us to expand what we do to include tomorrow’s leaders who are still in school.

We hear pride and hope when people stand beside others for a more inclusive world. Our commitment to those who support us is to inspire and lead positive social change in Canadian schools, communities and workplaces.
