Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee provides guidance to CCDI and the Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP™) team with respect to the general management of the certification, from the initial design to the development of formal policies, procedures, marketing strategies and strategic goals.

Joanne Callahan - HR Talent Management, Nalcor Energy

Joanne has almost twenty years of work experience in the energy and utility business. Twelve of those years are in Human Resources and Diversity and Inclusion. In this capacity, she has worked with various organizations throughout Atlantic Canada to develop and implement diversity and inclusion strategies that support overall business strategies. She is an advocate for promoting an inclusive work environment that meets the needs of all employees. While working in New Brunswick, in partnership with the University of New Brunswick’s HERG center, she helped promote the value of an inclusive work environment that helped all employees achieve their full potential. In 2012, Joanne moved to Newfoundland and Labrador, and currently works with Nalcor Energy. Her focus there has been talent management and diversity and inclusion. Joanne is a graduate of Memorial University.  

Phil Casey

Phil has 15 years of corporate, site and consulting experience in the mining industry managing sustainability, social responsibility, environmental, permitting and communications activities in Canada, USA, Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Chile, Australia, and Turkey. He has helped create industry leading multi-year sustainability strategies with Teck Resources and Goldcorp including integrating diversity and inclusion into long-term objectives. At Goldcorp, Phil was part of the inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Committee and led the engagement with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion to complete the Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB) for 10+ mines and corporate offices. In 2019, Phil moved to Argentina to assume the Manager, Sustainability and External Relations role at Newmont’s Cerro Negro mine. During this three-year international assignment, Phil helped prioritize local employment and procurement including a significant increase in participation and leadership for women in mining in Argentina.  

Roselene Dhaliwal, MEd

Roselene’s skills and expertise span over 20 years in the areas of health education, health promotion and equity, diversity & inclusion. She is the inaugural Director of Equity & Inclusion with the Canadian Mental Health Association – BC Division. A role in which she embeds equity and social justice into the organization’s vision of “a Canada where everyone can realize their human right to their best possible mental health”.  

Roselene holds a Master’s Degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction, which focused on cultural competency. She has also authored and co-authored a number of publications and is currently a PhD Candidate within SFU’s Faculty of Education.

Roselene is an advocate for inclusion, creating vibrant, collaborative learning and working communities in all her roles. As the daughter of settler immigrants from Punjab, India, she graciously acknowledges she lives, works and loves on the unceded and traditional territories of the səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Stó:lō, Qayqayt, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) nations.

Chantal Dugas - General Manager, Development, Diversity and Inclusion, Air Canada

Chantal joined Air Canada 19 years ago as a recruiter before she joined the Diversity team in 2000. Not long after, she was also given the responsibilities of Linguistic Affairs. For both portfolios, Chantal helped by her team supports the different departments in the development and implementation of initiatives that meet their specific needs. She also supports the development of strategies to create a better workplace for all employees. Finally, Chantal works very closely with the Talent Acquisition, the Learning and Development and the Succession teams in positioning Air Canada as a top diverse employer.  

Lindsay Evans  - Global diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility leader, Business and Leadership development Certified coach  

Lindsay Evans (she, they) possesses over 20 years of operational, change management, learning and business development experience; with a keen focus on diversity, equity and inclusion specific to education sectors, municipal government engagement, finance and technology industries. Taking part in varied board and committee work over the years, she has supported, enabled, and led district education councils, civil society organizations, parent/ally committees, community engagement projects, and DEI councils centralized on reforming process, ethics, and equity. With a deep understanding and personal mission of inclusion, Lindsay is a relationship builder, DEI-B advisor and consultant, educator, life-long student, cis-gendered queer member of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, and proud Neurodivergent, consistently seeking ways to elevate and provide opportunity, access, and accessibility for all.  

Tracey Jones-Grant – Managing Director, Office of Diversity & Inclusion/ANSAIO, CAO Business Unit, Halifax Regional Municipality 

Tracey Jones-Grant grew up and obtained her schooling in Halifax, graduating from Mount Saint Vincent University in 1984 and a Master of Library Sciences at Dalhousie in 1986. The daughter of Joan and Burnley “Rocky” Jones, Tracey grew up at the height of the efforts to define Black identity and fight for civil rights. Tracey has worked in the area of diversity from being the Diversity Manager for Halifax Public Libraries to Coordinator of Diversity Management for the Halifax Regional School board to most recently as the Managing Director, for the Halifax Regional Municipality in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion/African Nova Scotian Affairs. Tracey’s current work focuses on creating an inclusive municipality through impacting service deliver, policy development and community engagement.  

Mila Lazarova - Associate Professor of International Business at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University and Canada Research Chair in Global Workforce Management

Mila Lazarova (PhD, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey) is the William Saywell Professor in International Business at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University, Canada. Her research interests include global careers, expatriate management (with a focus on repatriation and the career implications of international assignments), organizational career development and mobility practices in MNCs, and integration of skilled immigrants in the Canadian workplace. Her work has appeared in journals such as the Academy of Management ReviewJournal of International Business StudiesJournal of World BusinessOrganizational ScienceJournal of Organizational BehaviorHuman Resource Management, and Human Resource Management Journal. Mila is currently a Consulting Editor at the Journal of World Business and sits on several other editorial boards. 

Marni Panas – Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, ATCO

Marni Panas (she/her) is the Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with ATCO. She has dedicated her career to creating safer, more welcoming and inclusive workplaces and communities. She holds a degree in Health Administration and a Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional designation. Marni is the Chair of the Board of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion.

Marni has contributed to legislation and policy protecting human rights for individuals at the provincial and federal levels in Canada. She was a member of the Advisory Committee that helped draft the apology that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered to 2SLGBTQI+ people in Canada in the House of Commons in November 2017.

Marni was nominated as a YWCA Woman of Distinction, received a Human Rights Award from the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights and was named a Global Edmonton Woman of Vision in 2018. Most recently, Marni received the 2022 Distinguished Alumni award from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
