Many assumptions underlie our cultural understanding of achievement, success and professionalism. Namely, the notion that people who are successful must have earned their success through hard work, known as “meritocracy”, can affect our perceptions of ourselves and of others and can impact our willingness to make efforts against oppression and towards social justice. This webinar will shed light on dominant cultural narratives around merit, the assumptions that arise from them and their impact on our behaviours.

Audience/Level: This intermediate-to-advanced webinar is for participants who are interested in examining dominant notions around merit that we take for granted to further their understanding of oppression and justice.
