Rabbi Ellen Greenspan moved to Montreal from New Jersey in 2014 to become the Rabbi-Educator at Temple Emanu-El-Beth-Sholom, Montreal’s only Reform synagogue. After 8 years in that postion, she “retired” in June 2022. She is now a Permanent Resident of Canada. After retiring, Rabbi Greenspan studied French for six months through the Quebec government’s program for new immigrants. She is passionate about helping peole explore their spiritual and religious identies by teaching Introduction to Judaism and “Learn to Read Hebrew” on-line for the Union for Reform Judaism. She serves as a “faith volunteer” at McGill and Concordia Universities. Rabbi Greenspan was ordained at the Hebrew Union College in New York; she also holds a Master’s Degree in Jewish Education from the same institution. She spent the majority of her career in New Jersey, serving as a rabbi and in other educational and community building capactities.
