Hosted byMiriam Chiasson

As part of Canada History Week, this webinar will examine the history of French Canada, including colonisation, historical social inequities, linguistic tensions, sovereigntist movements and contemporary francophone immigration. We will discuss prejudice against francophone Canadians, such as tokenism of francophones, Quebec bashing and challenges to access French-language services for francophone minorities in Canada. Finally, this webinar will share suggestions to improve the inclusion of francophone staff in the workplace.

Audience/Level: This intermediate-level webinar is for participants interested in Canadian history and its impact on the present, and in linguistic inclusion in the workplace, particularly that of francophones.

Note:

  • This webinar will be offered in French with live English interpretation and closed captioning in both languages.
  • Please note that registration for our webinars will close at 4:00 p.m. ET, one business day before the event.
