By attending this event, you agree to lead with the following values:

  • Kindness – Approach interactions with kindness and compassion. When challenging ideas or concepts are brought up, focus on presenting facts and sources not targeting individuals. Remember that everyone in the space is still on their learning journey and seeking growth and support.
  • Self–awareness – Reflect on your own identities and how they influence your engagement with others. Be cognizant of others' identities and how they may shape their views and experiences.
  • Courage – Enter the event with humility and an openness to learning. Recognize that others’ experiences and knowledge may challenge your perspectives and inspire personal growth.
  • Change – Embrace the evolving nature of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). Understand that best practices, language and knowledge are ever-changing, and respond to new information with curiosity and adaptability.
  • Integrity – Take responsibility for your words and actions; challenge ideas respectfully without dismissing others’ lived experiences.
  • Inclusion- Practice active listening, empathy, perspective-taking, and self-awareness to unify around a space for inclusion.
  • Respect – Hold space for others’ unique ideas, beliefs, and experiences even when they differ from your own, with compassion. Acknowledge that we are all at different stages in our DEIA journeys and have things to learn and unlearn.

To uphold these values, participants are expected to follow these engagement practices:

  • Protect privacy - Take the lessons and advice from this space with you, and respect the privacy of others.
    • Recording, screenshotting or disclosing names or personal experiences shared outside of this event is strictly prohibited.
  • Consent matters - Consent is essential in all your interactions. If someone expresses discomfort or asks you to stop engaging with them, respect their boundaries immediately.

  • No solicitation - This is a space for relationship-building, problem-solving and co-learning, not a place for self-promotion or solicitation.
  • Respect personal perspective - Recognize that for many, personal experiences are intertwined with political issues. When discussing political impacts, understand that others may be speaking from personal or lived experiences.

CCDI reserves the right to remove participants who violate this Code of Conduct, at its sole discretion, to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for all.
